Organs of the foundation
The executive committee is the most important organ of the foundation.
It is responsible for all important decisions. For example the executive committee has to draw up the budget and the annual account. Furthermore it has to decide about the use of the capital of the foundation.

The following persons belong to the executive committee:
  • Joachim Vollmer, manager of the Kommunale Umwelt-AktioN U.A.N., Hanover
  • Rolf Schmidt, Ministry of the Environment, Energy and Climate Protection of Lower Saxony, Hanover
  • Professor Dr. Johannes Müller-Schaper, PFI engineering office, Hanover
The members of the executive committee are active on a honorary basis.


The board of trustees fulfills a controlling function in the foundation. It has to approve the budget and has to decide about the annual account. The above-mentioned controlling functions essentially refer to the work of the executive committee and the management. Additionally the board of trustees guarantees that the purpose of the foundation is strictly considered.

The members of the board of trustees are:
  • Dr. Marco Trips, president of the Lower Saxonian association of towns and municipalities (chairman)
  • Uwe-Peter Lestin, first vice-president of the Lower Saxonian association of towns and municipalities (vice-chairman)
  • Martina Noske, vice-president of the Lower Saxonian association of towns and municipalities (vice-chairwoman)
  • Stefan Wenzel, Minister of Environment of Lower Saxony, Hanover
  • Professor Dr. Karl-Heinz Rosenwinkel, head of the Institute for urban water and waste management, University of Hanover
  • Sigrid Rakow, member of parliament in Lower Saxony
The members of the board of trustees are also active on a honorary basis.


Dr. Katrin Flasche, manager of the Kommunale Umwelt-AktioN U.A.N., has been appointed honorary manager of the foundation.
